The Cabin Company: Our History
Mike and Jeanne Strickland opened The Cabin Company in 2005 at 847 North Main Street in Waynesville. The couple moved to Western North Carolina from Louisiana in search of an alternative to corporate America and big-city life.
Establishing a family-owned business was especially important to Mike and Jeanne.
"When Katrina hit Louisiana, our family there lost everything," says Jeanne. "That was one reason we were so motivated to launch The Cabin Company, because it gave us another way to employ family," she says. "Plus, it is our hope that one day our grandchildren will continue making their home here and run the business when we retire."
The Stricklands' vision for The Cabin Company is to support family-owned businesses, buy made-in-America items, and help support the artists and craftspeople of Western North Carolina.
